Delightful Daisy DSP | Love It Chop It | Part 1

DSP hoarders unite!

Do you love collecting pretty patterned and designer series papers, only to find they are too pretty to use? .... because what happens if I can't buy anymore once I've used what I have?

I don't know about you, but I have been collecting Designer Series Papers for quite a few years and I haven't used much of my stash (because they are retired and I can't get anymore) so I have a rather embarrassingly large collection of papers. I have so much that it has become a little overwhelming and I wasn't sure where to start.

About a month ago I shared the below picture in a post my Facebook page, as I was super excited that after joining Kylie Bertucci's Love it Chop it Workshop, I had taken the plunge and cut into some of my large Designer Series Paper stash.

I started with my pack of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (because for now it is current and I can still order more). From only 6 sheets of 12" x 12" DSP, I came up with 63 card bases that only needed sentiments and embellishments added to have a complete card. This was only half a pack of DSP, so I could potentially make up to 126 cards from 1 pack of DSP.... OMG!

At this rate, with the amount of DSP I have, I'm looking at being able to create a million cards (now that would be an achievement! .... and an truck load of cardstock).

Well, I'm even more excited to share that I have now finished these card bases and turned them in to completed cards. Woohoo!

These took a little longer than I had expected as I am someone who has trouble making multiples of the same card, so each of my cards had to be a little different.

And as you can see from below, there aren't many cards that look the same.

I might need to change this mentality if I want to have a chance of using up my DSP stash this century :)

I have photographed each card and grouped them by the main stamp set used and over the next 2 weeks (and 9 blog posts), I'll share close up photos of each card and list the products used to finish it off.

So make sure you pop back each day (or sign up to receive my blog updates via email) to see all these cards in more detail.

From all these cards, I will pick my favourite layouts and use those layouts with my remaining DSP stash. Most layouts will work with just about any DSP pattern, so hopefully I've already done the hard yards and using the rest of my papers will be a little quicker and easier as I'll have 63 card layouts to choose from.

Here is a closer look at my card pile

Here are a couple of work in progress shots......

Woah... what a mess!

Who else finds they end up with only a tiny space to create on their large desk,
when working on something big?

It was just too hard to put things away (only to get them back out again) when I ended up using 14 different ink pads, 14 framelit sets and 14 stamp sets, plus lots of coloured cardstock, embellishments and ribbons on my bulk card project.

If you are going to participate in the #loveitchopit movement that Kylie started, here is a tip for making your cardstock go a little further.

When you have a cardstock layer that is going to be covered up by a DSP layer (or another cardstock layer), cut out a shape from the middle that you can use on another project.

This is especially handy when you are using Whisper White layers as these are perfect for stamping all the sentiments on that you are going to need for all the cards you are going to make.

Once you adhere your top layer of DSP, you can't tell that the middle is missing.

Here is a pic you can pin or save to remind you of this cardstock tip :)

Don't forget to pop by tomorrow for Part 2, showing details on my cards using the Blooms & Wishes stamp set.

    1. Thanks so much Deli :) So happy to have given you hope for your massive stash. If your stash is anything like mine, it might take some serious time and a huge amount of cardstock, but you'll get there.
