Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: Technique

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects using a crafting Technique. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

I have created an adorable any occasions card, using the Fable Friends and Let It Ride stamp sets. The technique I have used for my card is colouring with watercolour pencils and a blender pen.

Here are some quick pictures of the steps I took to colour my image:

To start off my card I stamped my sentiment (from Let It Ride) in the bottom right-hand corner of a Whisper White cardstock layer using Mango Melody ink. I then stamped the cute squirrel image (from Fable Friends) using Memento Black ink.

Next step was to colour the squirrel image. I have used a combination of colours from the Watercolor Pencils set and Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 set for my card.

Colours used: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green & Pacific Point.

To get the highlighted/lighter spots on my coloured image above, I applied more pressure to the pencil around the edges and lightened the pressure on the pencil as I worked into the centre.

Once I'd finished colouring my image, I grabbed my Blender Pen and began to gently blend and smooth out the colour - working on a single colour at a time. Don't forget to clean the tip of your Blender Pen on a scrap of paper after you finish each colour to make sure you don't end up with a bit of colour in a spot you don't want it (see below).

To finish off the card, I added a piece of Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon and a piece of Pineapple Punch Grosgrain Ribbon to my card layer before adhering it to my Mango Melody card base.

Daisy Thinking of You Card | Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Challenge #035

Hi and thanks for visiting :)

We have a new fortnightly challenge starting over on the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group.

Our latest challenge #AWLSU035 is a sketch challenge.

Myself and the other group admins will share our creations to start off each challenge and hopefully help kick-start and inspire your creativity.

If you live in Australia and are interested in participating in our fortnightly challenges, click here to join the group :)

In addition to our sketch challenge, I took a little inspiration for my card today from a couple of other creative challenges. My colour palette was inspired by the bright colours of the latest Fab Friday Colour Challenge #168. And my card also fits in with the latest Addicted to CAS #163 - Daisy Challenge.

*******************************************

I started by punching 2 Whisper White daisies using the Daisy Punch. Then using my Lovely Lipstick ink pad and a sponge dauber, I added a little colour to the ends of the petals. The 2 daisies were glued together and I added a circle of Pineapple Punch cardstock to the centre.

My sentiment comes from the Rooted in Nature stamp set and was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink on a square of Whisper White cardstock. This was layered on a Bermuda Bay scalloped square.

The Pacific Point card layer was run through my Big Shot using the Subtle embossing folder, to add a little texture. I added a piece of Bermuda Bay Mini Striped Ribbon before adhering it to my Whisper White cardbase. I then adhered the daisy and sentiment panel using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

A pretty quick and easy card, that will hopefully brighten someones day :)

Wonderful Romance Thinking of You Card | Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Challenge #034

Yesterday I shared my Admin inspiration for our latest fortnightly challenge over on the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group. Our latest challenge #AWLSU034 is a Colour challenge. And for me this was a really hard colour challenge as I love using bright colours in my projects.

Well, I decided to have another go at this really challenging colour palette and I really like what I've come up with using a recently retired stamp set called Wonderful Romance.

If you live in Australia and are interested in participating in our fortnightly challenges, click here to join the group :)

For this card I chose to CASE a card I created back in March and change my colours to suit our Colour Challenge. To see my original card, click here.

I stamped the floral image from the retired Wonderful Romance stamp set in Memento Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut it out using the co-ordinating die from the retired Wonderful Floral Framelits.

Using my Smoky Slate & Night of Navy Stampin' Blends along with my Basic Gray Stampin' Write Marker, I coloured my image. To add a little subtle sparkle I used my clear Wink of Stella on the Night of Navy flowers.

My sentiment, also from the retired Wonderful Romance stamp set, is stamped in Night of Navy ink. The cardstock strips along the edge of my card are Smoky Slate and Basic Gray.

Hope you like it. I think this is just as pretty as my original even though it is not quite as colourful.
