Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper | For You Cards

Hi and thanks for visiting, today I am CASEing myself :)
(CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit)

I made the below set of Birthday cards using Bird Ballad DSP recently for our Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! #AWLSU041 Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. (Click here to view these cards)

I really liked the layout and design of these cards so I decided to have another go and see if I could come up with something a little different, using the same layout and came up with these. What do you think?

My new set of cards are "For You" Any Occasions cards and use a Pool Party, Petal Pink/Powder Pink and Whisper White colour combination. I have again used the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

I followed the same steps as my previous cards (click here to view my previous post), however this time I have used some of my retired ribbon stash and placed some Pool Party & Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon across my card front - horizontally on one card and vertically on the other.

The sentiment (which comes from the Let It Ride stamp set) is stamped in Pool Party ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock which was cut out using a small Layering Circle die and adhered to my card front using some Stampin' Dimensionals.

As with my previous cards, you get to enjoy both sides of the DSP and for this sheet there is this pretty bird design on the inside (as seen above).

Thanks so much for your support and for visiting me today :)

Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: 3D Project

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing 3D projects. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

I struggled a little with this theme because I couldn't decide what 3D item I was going to make.... I just had too many ideas floating around in my head. I looked at making lots of different sized and shaped boxes, gift boxes & packaging, flowers and even baskets.

However..... after spotting something on Pinterest, I ended up trying my hand at an Origami Diamond Ornament.

For my Origami Diamond Ornament, I found some fab folding instructions through Pinterest on a 2016 post by Frau Liebling.

I played around with some scrap paper first to see how big the ornament would work out and for my practice ornament I started with 15cm x 15cm squares of paper. For my proper attempt I decided to go a little smaller and went with 10cm x 10cm squares of DSP.

The DSP chosen for my ornament comes from the See A Silhouette pack and uses both sides of the same sheet. As our DSP is much thicker than standard origami paper, I used my bone folder to help with my fold/crease lines (just be careful about cracking or splitting the DSP on those fold lines).

If you plan to add a string to your ornament, you need to thread it through before you glue to 2 sides together. For my string I used some Whisper White Bakers Twine and to add a little weight to the ornament, I raided my stash of retired embellishments (as I don't have any current products that would suit) and added a metal snow flake (which comes from the All Is Calm Snowflake Embellishments pack). The knot to tie both ends of the twine together is hidden inside my ornament.

I have to say this was a little frustrating to make, perhaps because of how heavy/thick the paper was that I was using. Plus glueing the 2 pieces together was a bit fiddly and tricky to line them up perfectly and keep them that way until the glue dried (as you can probably see from my photos, some moved a little before the glue dried.... but handmade isn't always perfect and it is still handmade with love).

Overall I am happy with my first attempt and will give it another try with some of our specialty papers and/or some of our lighter GSM papers. Fingers crossed the second time around it will be much easier.

Bird Ballad Birthday Cards | Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Challenge #041

Welcome and thanks for stopping by :)

Today marks the start of our latest fortnightly challenge over on the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group.

Our latest challenge #AWLSU041 is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, where you create a project using the 3 inspiration words in any row (horizontal or vertical) or diagonal.

Myself and the other group admins will share our creations to start off each challenge and hopefully help kick-start and inspire your creativity.

If you live in Australia and are interested in participating in our fortnightly challenges, click here to join the group :)

My project was inspired by a couple of other creative challenges: Layout was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #406 and Just Add Ink's Just Add "H" Challenge #478 - where I have incorporated "Happy" into my project.

*******************************************

I have made a gorgeous set of Birthday cards using the Bird Ballard Designer Series Paper and my cards kind of fit in with 2 rows: Die Cut / Floral / Leaf and Layers / Floral / Modern.

To start, I cut out a rectangle window (using the Stitched Rectangle Dies) on the front of my Old Olive card base. I then layered my piece of Designer Series Paper (which is bigger than my rectangle window), glueing it on the inside of the card.

Using a window on the card front enables you to appreciate both sides of this lovely patterned paper (see below).

Next I stamped some flowers and leaves (from the Free As A Bird stamp set) using Memento Black ink on to some Whisper White cardstock. These I coloured using my Stampin' Blends to match the flowers in the DSP. Once coloured, I fussy cut them out. I also added some subtle sparkle to the flowers using Clear Wink of Stella.

Using the Everyday Label punch, I punched out some labels in Whisper White for my sentiment, which is stamped in Old Olive ink and comes from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

I then adhered the leaves and flower to my sentiment label and added a piece of Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon at the back. This was then attached to the front of my card using some Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
