Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: Technique

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects using a crafting Technique. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

I have created an adorable any occasions card, using the Fable Friends and Let It Ride stamp sets. The technique I have used for my card is colouring with watercolour pencils and a blender pen.

Here are some quick pictures of the steps I took to colour my image:

To start off my card I stamped my sentiment (from Let It Ride) in the bottom right-hand corner of a Whisper White cardstock layer using Mango Melody ink. I then stamped the cute squirrel image (from Fable Friends) using Memento Black ink.

Next step was to colour the squirrel image. I have used a combination of colours from the Watercolor Pencils set and Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 set for my card.

Colours used: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green & Pacific Point.

To get the highlighted/lighter spots on my coloured image above, I applied more pressure to the pencil around the edges and lightened the pressure on the pencil as I worked into the centre.

Once I'd finished colouring my image, I grabbed my Blender Pen and began to gently blend and smooth out the colour - working on a single colour at a time. Don't forget to clean the tip of your Blender Pen on a scrap of paper after you finish each colour to make sure you don't end up with a bit of colour in a spot you don't want it (see below).

To finish off the card, I added a piece of Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon and a piece of Pineapple Punch Grosgrain Ribbon to my card layer before adhering it to my Mango Melody card base.
