Rainbow Thank You | Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Challenge #032

Hi and thanks for visiting :)

Today marks the start of our latest fortnightly challenge over on the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group.

Our latest challenge #AWLSU032 is a technique challenge. Our technique for this challenge is sponging. It could be applying ink using sponges, sponge daubers or sponge brayers (or anything else you can think of that uses sponges).

Myself and the other group admins will share our creations to start off each challenge and hopefully help kick-start and inspire your creativity.

If you live in Australia and are interested in participating in our fortnightly challenges, click here to join the group :)

My card was also inspired by a few other creative challenges. The layout was inspired by this weeks Sunday Stamps Sketch Challenge #206, my colour palette is from the latest Fusion Rainbow Birds Challenge and I teamed our AWLSU032 Sponging Challenge with the latest Just Add Ink Emboss Resist Challenge #406.

I started out by cutting a large stitched rectangle and the butterfly from the Springtime Impressions dies using some Whisper White cardstock.

Then I inked up my Thank You sentiment (from the Abstract Impressions stamp set) using Versamark, stamped it in the top corner of my rectangle and clear heat embossed it.

Using a few tiny drops of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back of my die cut butterfly, that I let dry first so it was tacky (but still removable), I placed my die cut butterfly on my stitched rectangle.

From here I grabbed my ink pads and sponge daubers. I have used the same rainbow of colours in this card, that I used on my Springtime Impressions Birthday Butterfly card, to see the an image detailing the colours in order, check out my post by clicking here.

Starting in the middle with Daffodil Delight, I sponged ink on my stitched rectangle and on top of my butterfly using sponge daubers. From there I moved out to the edges blending each colour as I went.

Once done, I carefully removed my die cut butterfly to reveal a white butterfly underneath. Using a piece of paper towel, I carefully removed any extra ink that was sitting on top of the clear heat embossed Thank You sentiment (to make it look more white).

To finish off, I added a layer of Basic Black cardstock underneath, before adhering it to my Whisper White Thick card base.

The awesome thing about this card is that I now have a gorgeous rainbow die cut butterfly that I can use on another card. Win Win.....woo hoo!
