International Highlights June Winners Blog Hop | Theme: Encouragement

Welcome and thank you for joining me in a special International Blog Hop for the winners of Kylie Bertucci's June International Blog Highlight. Our theme for this highlight was Encouragement.

Anyone and everyone was able to vote for their favourite cards and based on the total votes received, the top 10 winners were announced and I came 3rd (well actually equal 2nd) - YAY :) A big THANKYOU to all those who voted for my card.

Below is the Free As A Bird encouragement card I entered. If you would like more details or information on this card, click here or on the below image to be taken to my post.

All 10 winners were invited to participate in this special International Highlight Blog Hop. Our theme for this hop is also Encouragement.

My latest Encouragement themed card was also created using the Free As A Bird stamp set (which is a new favourite of mine).

The layout for my card today was inspired by the latest Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge #462. My colour palette was inspired by the rainbow VW Combi image in the latest Fusion Challenge.

Plus I added some ribbon so it fits in with our latest Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group "Add Ribbon" Challenge #AWLSU033. So I have a bonus Admin Inspiration creation :)

******************************

The colour palette for my card uses the 2018-20 In Colors: Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.

I am a big fan of BRIGHTS, so this In Color group is my favourite. The new 2019-21 In Colors are pretty, but a little pale for my liking however I am sure they'll grow on me.

I started off by stamping the bird image from the Free As A Bird stamp set in Memento Black Ink on some Whisper White cardstock, cut it out using a large square from the Stitched Shapes Dies set and then coloured it using my Stampin' Blends. The colours used were to tie in to the In Colors I wanted for my colour palette, where I didn't have a matching In Color Blend, I went with colours that were close. So I have used my Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, Call Me Clover, Soft Suede, Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch and Calypso Coral Blends.

The sentiment, which comes from the Let It Ride stamp set, is stamped in Blueberry Bushell ink.

My card base is Crumb Cake and I layered strips of the 2018-20 In Color cardstock on top. I attached some small pieces of the 2018-20 In Color 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon to the back of my Stitched Square before adhering to my card base using some Mini Dimensionals.

Hope you like it..... I know I do. The bright rainbow of colours just makes me happy :)

    1. So happy you like my card Gloria :)
All I did to work out the colour strips was decide how big the card front panel was going to be and then divided by 5. My card is an Australian Metric A6 sized card, and my panel is 14cm x 9.7cm, so each coloured strip is 2.8cm x 9.7cm. You'll probably need to adjust the measurements if you are creating a US Imperial standard sized card, but if you use the method above, you should be able to adjust them to suit your card front size.
