Bird Ballad & Garden Lane DSP | Designer Series Paper Sale Project Inspiration Part 1

Designer Series Paper Sale Project Inspiration Part 1

The Stampin' Up! Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Sale is on during September. The sale ends on 30th September and you can purchase any 3 selected packs of DSP and get a 4th one free.

Stampin' Up! have provided some stunning project inspiration using the papers available in the sale. To inspire you to get creative with Designer Series Paper, I am going to share these projects from the Stampin' Up! Design Teams with you over the next week.

You might find that you look as a pack of DSP differently and realise that perhaps you "do" need to get that design (I know there are a few that I was still on the fence about or had glanced over, but after seeing these projects I've changed my mind).

If you find you still aren't sold on the patterns/designs in a particular pack, then I hope at least you get inspired by the design or layout and try changing up the project using other papers you have or like.

Lets get started by checking out projects using the Bird Ballad DSP and the Garden Lane DSP.

Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper

This card uses a standard A2 imperial card base which has a card front size of 4.25" x 5.5". This design will also work with an standard A6 metric card base.

To create this card cut a panel of cardstock smaller than your card front (in any colour or plain paper if you prefer as it will be hidden). Cut 1" wide strips of DSP and then adhere them to your panel in spectrum order using your preferred adhesive (Snail or Multipurpose Liquid Glue). Then cut out this panel using the 2nd largest stitched rectangle die. Wrap the die cut panel with Linen Thread 3 times and tie a bow. Fussy cut some of the feathers from the feather patterned DSP sheet. Adhere the feathers slightly overlapping the matching colours on the die cut panel (as shown above). Punch 3 sprigs from vellum cardstock using the Sprig Punch, cut them in half and tuck these under the feathers.

Using the Free As A Bird stamp set, stamp your sentiment using your favourite black ink (Stazon or Memento) on to a strip of Pool Party cardstock. Punch a shape in Whisper White using the Pretty Label Punch and adhere your sentiment strip on top using Snail. Then adhere it using Dimensionals (or Mini Dimensionals if you prefer) on top of the feathers. Lastly add a few sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment in colours matching the DSP used.

Garden Lane Designer Series Paper

This card uses a non standard sized card base. The base is determined by the size of the DSP panel.

To create this card start off my cutting the DSP (using the above designs) into squares and tiling them on to a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Using this layer, determine your Pear Pizzazz cardbase size depending on how much of an edge you would like. Adhere your DSP layer onto your base.

Using the Verdant Garden stamp set, stamp your sentiment in Garden Green ink on a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Stamp the floral image from the same stamp set in Soft Sea Foam ink around your sentiment. Cut this out using the Story Label Punch. Cut a banner shaped piece of vellum and adhere it to your cardbase. Next adhere a piece of the Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon onto the vellum banner and top with your sentiment using Stampin' Dimensionals (or Mini Dimensionals if you prefer).

Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: New 2019 Holiday Catalogue

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects created using products (or inspiration) from the new 2019 Holiday Catalogue. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

Sadly I don't have any new Holiday Catalogue goodies yet, so for my creation today I have taken inspiration from a card in the new Holiday Catalogue and CASE'd (Copy And Selectively Edited) it to create a version of my own using products from the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue.

Unfortunately I can't share a picture (yet) of the original card in the catalogue that inspired my version, however if you are lucky enough to have a copy of the catalogue already.... or can wait till the catalogue goes live on the 4th September to check out the original, you'll find it on page 45.

The original card was a Christmas themed card and as you'll see below, I have turned my version in to a Masculine Birthday / Any Occasions card.

My card ties in with the latest Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! #AWLSU037 Masculine Card Challenge that started earlier this week. I am excited to finally be able to share it as my Admin Inspiration creation for our new challenge :)

The colours used in my card include Call Me Clover, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green and Soft Suede.

My card base is Granny Apple Green and I have layered a piece of Early Espresso cardstock on top that was run through my Big Shot using the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.

I partially cut out a Stitched Nested Label using some Whisper White cardstock. Using the Let It Ride stamp set I created my little scene. The horses were stamped first using Early Espresso ink and then I created a little mask for the horses (by stamping the image on a post it note and cutting around the horses), so I could then stamp my forest in the background without stamping through the horses. I have used Call Me Clover and Granny Apple Green inks for the trees. The horses were coloured in using Soft Suede Stampin' Blends.

The sentiment was made using the alphabet stamps from the Make A Difference set and stamped in Early Espresso ink on a small scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock.

I attached pieces of Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon and Call Me Clover Grosgrain Ribbon to my card base using double sided tape, before adhering my Stitched label scene over the top using some Mini Dimensionals. My sentiment was added last using a little Multipurpose liquid glue.

Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: Technique

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects using a crafting Technique. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

I have created an adorable any occasions card, using the Fable Friends and Let It Ride stamp sets. The technique I have used for my card is colouring with watercolour pencils and a blender pen.

Here are some quick pictures of the steps I took to colour my image:

To start off my card I stamped my sentiment (from Let It Ride) in the bottom right-hand corner of a Whisper White cardstock layer using Mango Melody ink. I then stamped the cute squirrel image (from Fable Friends) using Memento Black ink.

Next step was to colour the squirrel image. I have used a combination of colours from the Watercolor Pencils set and Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 set for my card.

Colours used: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green & Pacific Point.

To get the highlighted/lighter spots on my coloured image above, I applied more pressure to the pencil around the edges and lightened the pressure on the pencil as I worked into the centre.

Once I'd finished colouring my image, I grabbed my Blender Pen and began to gently blend and smooth out the colour - working on a single colour at a time. Don't forget to clean the tip of your Blender Pen on a scrap of paper after you finish each colour to make sure you don't end up with a bit of colour in a spot you don't want it (see below).

To finish off the card, I added a piece of Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon and a piece of Pineapple Punch Grosgrain Ribbon to my card layer before adhering it to my Mango Melody card base.

Thanks so much for your support and for visiting me today :)
