Daisy Thinking of You Card | Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Challenge #034

Hi and thanks for visiting :)

Today marks the start of our latest fortnightly challenge over on the Aussies Who Love Stampin' Up! Facebook Group.

Our latest challenge #AWLSU034 is a Colour challenge. And for me this was a really hard colour challenge as I love using bright colours in my projects.

Myself and the other group admins will share our creations to start off each challenge and hopefully help kick-start and inspire your creativity.

If you live in Australia and are interested in participating in our fortnightly challenges, click here to join the group :)

This card was my 2nd attempt (my first attempt didn't go further than pieces on my desk) and was a super quick and easy card to create.

I used all 5 colours in this card. I started off by cutting thin strips of Smoky Slate, Basic Gray & Basic Black. I stamped my sentiment, which comes from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set in Memento Black ink on the Smoky Slate strip. I then adhered them to a scrap of printer paper and ran them through my Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder.

Using the Daisy Punch and my Night of Navy cardstock, I punched out 2 Daisies and glued them together. I topped the Daisy with a random button from my craft stash.

I felt I needed a little something to make the Daisy stand out against the Basic Gray and Basic Black strips so I cut out a Stitched Circle to attach under the Daisy.

I really like the layout of this card, so I am planning to make some more using brighter colours :)

Thanks so much for your support and for visiting me today :)

Taekwondo Grading Congratulations Card

I have some non-crafting related news to share with you today.

In addition to jumping back into studying (after a really, really long time) at the start of this year, I decided it was also time to try my hand at a Martial Art as I had been talking about it since my 2 boys started Taekwondo just under 2 years ago. And so at the beginning of this year, I finally signed myself up for Taekwondo classes.

Well, over the weekend I attending my first grading (as a student and not a parent) and was successful in achieving my Yellow belt and becoming an 8th Cup student. Woohoo!

At the same grading, my friends (and instructors) were attempting to achieve their 4th Dan (which is a HUGE deal and requires years of training). All their hard work paid off and they received their 4th stripe.

To help them celebrate this huge achievement, I created a special card which I modelled off their Taekwondo Black belt uniforms and included their new 4th Dan Black belt.

What do you reckon... is this cool or what :)

I love it and so did my friends (as well as all the other
students who saw it after class when I gave it to them)

Did you notice the 4 white stripes on the "C" in congrats?

Thanks so much for your support and for visiting me today :)

Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop | Theme: Kids/Male Inspiration

Welcome to the Ink it! Stamp it! Design Team Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects inspired by our Kids/Male theme. The full line up below will guide you through all the projects.

I chose to create a quick and simple masculine card for my project today. When I am having a bit of a creative block I always like to go and check out a few creative challenges for some inspiration. And so for my card today my colour palette was inspired by the latest Color Throwdown #549 colour challenge and my layout was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches #394 sketch challenge. My card also fits in with the latest Stampin' Up! Only Challenge #SUOC226 - Birthdays.

**********************************

I interpreted the blue, orange and grey colours in the Color Throwdown challenge in to Stampin' Up! colours Blueberry Bushel, Pumpkin Pie and Gray Granite, plus I added some Whisper White.

As mentioned, this was a quick and super easy card to put together.

I started by die cutting all the gears from the Garage Gears Dies set in Gray Granite. Next I cut a strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and stamped my sentiment (from the Geared Up Garage stamp set) in Blueberry Bushel ink in the top corner.

Using Multipurpose liquid glue I adhered my die cut gear pieces to the Pumpkin Pie strip (after I'd had a play with how I wanted them laid out). And then adhered some Whisper White cardstock strips (that were in my scrap pile... gotta love when you can use up your scraps) to the back of the Pumpkin Pie strip.

My cardbase is Blueberry Bushel and I wanted to add a little texture so I decided to use my Corrugated Dynamic Embossing Folder. I cut a Blueberry Bushel card front and ran it through my big shot. This was then adhered to my card base, followed by the Pumpkin Pie panel and then... voila! a finished card :)
