The Paper Players #295 | Clean-and-Simple Challenge : WILD Thing

Hello and welcome :)

Today I am sharing my entry for this weeks Clean-and-Simple Challenge #295 over on The Paper Players blog, which is a "WILD Thing" theme.

Here is my card:

To create my card I started with Whisper White cardstock for the card base, then layered a piece of Basic Black card stock on top using Snail adhesive. The top piece of Whisper White was scored using my Simply Scored scoring board at the top and bottom, equal distances from the edges. I then stamped my image and sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on to the card stock and the final score line was centred between the 2 stamped images. The score lines are subtle but help frame the images and give the card a little something extra.

The Zebra image is from the gorgeous by sadly retired Zoo Review stamp set and the sentiment is also from a retired set called Hey You.

This was a super quick & easy card to create. I like the simplicity of the card and you could change out the image and sentiment with just about anything, to suit any occasion.

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:

Basic Black A4 Cardstock (121688)

One card, two challenges | GDP034 and PPA229

For my post today I am sharing a card that was inspired by 2 challenges this week.

The Global Design Project #034 - Sketch Challenge and the Pals Paper Arts #229 - Colour Challenge.

To make my card I have used the colours from the Pals Paper Arts #229 colour challenge of Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz and Gold, and the layout was inspired by the Global Design Project #034 sketch challenge.

Here is my card:

I started with a Whisper White card base, and stamped the retired Hello, Doily background stamp in Pink Pirouette. The "just for you" sentiment is from the 2016 Sale-A-Bration Botanicals for You set and was stamped on top in Pear Pizzazz.

The touches of Gold were added by gluing on 3 Gold sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment, a small strip of some metallic Gold curling ribbon I had lying around and some Gold washi tape from the retired Watercolor Wonder set.

This colour combination makes this a nice soft card for any occasion.

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:

Whisper White A4 Cardstock (106549)
Pink Pirouette Classic Stampin' Pad (126956)
Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin' Pad (131180)
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
Hello, Doily stamp set (Clear 122847)
Botanicals for You Sale-A-Bration stamp set (Clear 141237)
Metallics Sequin Assortment (138390)
Watercolor Wonder washi tape (133000)
Gold metallic curling ribbon

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest - Dena Rekow

Welcome and thank you for joining me in a special Crazy Crafters team blog hop.

We are hopping with a special guest - The amazingly creative Dena Rekow.

The theme of this blog hop was to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) one of Dena's cards.

Here is the card of Dena's that I chose to CASE:

I loved the simplicity and boldness of this card. It stood out in the crowd and grabbed my attention. To checkout Dena's card in more detail click here.

Here is my version:

I decided on Basic Black cardstock for my card base. Instead of using washi tape like in Dena's card, I glued down some randomly cut strips of black and white designer series paper so that the white would show up on the black card base. The designer series paper I used was part of the retired Back to Black series from the 2014-2015 Stampin' Up! catalogue.

To create my flower I used the same 3 framelits as Dena, which are part of the Botanical Builder set. This framelit set is fast becoming a favourite of mine. For my flower I chose Tempting Turquoise & Whisper White cardstock. I added a little sparkle to the centre of the flower using the retiring Dazzling Details.

My sentiment came from the Remarkable You stamp set. I stamped the image using Versamark and then heat embossed using white embossing powder.

By using Tempting Turquoise for the flower, I find my card a little softer than Dena's. I might have to recreate the card using Melon Mambo instead, which I believe would give it the same boldness as Dena's original.

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:

Basic Black A4 Cardstock (121688)
Tempting Turquoise A4 Cardstock (108598)
Whisper White A4 Cardstock (106549)
Back to Black designer series paper (133700)
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
Remarkable You stamp set (Wood - 139891 / Clear - 139894)
Botanical Builder Framelits Dies (140625)
Dazzling Details (124117)
Versamark Pad (102283)
White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132)
Heat tool (129056)

This weeks challenge is to create a card using the Flower Patch stamp set.

My card was a special request for a 60th Birthday. The only criteria specified was for a flower theme.

Here is what I came up with:

I was very happy with how this one turned out and I hope you like it too.

Mojo Monday #446 | Card Sketch Challenge

Hello and thanks for stopping by.

Today I have a super cute birthday card I made for my nephew to share with you as well as my entry for this weeks Mojo Monday #446 Card Sketch Challenge.

This weeks Mojo Monday challenge was to create a card using this card sketch:

My card was created with my nephew in mind, so I have used a fun sea theme.

Here is my card:

The card base is Whisper White, and I have layered another strip of Whisper White over some Real Red cardstock which runs through the middle of the card.

The sea themed stamps are part of the Sea Street stamp set (which is sadly retiring soon, so grab it now before it's gone). The ink colours I have used in my card are Night of Navy, Coastal Cabana & Real Red.

The stamped shapes at the top of the card have been punched using the 3/4" x 15/16" Oval punch and some dimensionals added to make them stand out. The star fish near the octopus have been partly fussy cut and glued down.

The strip of flags is part of the co-ordinating Maritime designer series paper from the 2014-2015 Stampin' Up! Catalogue (however is currently available and discounted on the clearance rack - check the link below and grab a bargain). The Party hat & star on top is also part of the Maritime designer series paper - I just used a scrap and cut out a hat and punched the star out with a circle hole punch.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Celebrate Today stamp set.

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:
Whisper White A4 Cardstock (106549)
Real Red A4 Cardstock (106578)
Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad (126970)
Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin' Pad
Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad (126949)
3/4" x 15/16" Oval punch
Maritime Designer Series Paper (133696)
Sea Street Stamp Set (Wood - 133985 / Clear - 133988)
Celebrate Today (Photopolymer - 137138)
Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Snail Permanent Adhesive (104332)
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
