Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest - Paula Dobson

Welcome and thank you for joining me in a special Crazy Crafters team blog hop.

We are hopping with a special guest - The amazingly creative Paula Dobson.

The theme of this blog hop was to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) one of Paula's cards.

Here is the card of Paula's that I chose to CASE:

To checkout Paula's card in more detail click here.

I really liked how the flowers appear to jump off the card as well as the subtle stamping on the edge of the card.

Here is my card:

To create this card I stamped the lovely fairy images from the Fairy Celebration set onto Whisper White cardstock using Memento black ink. I stamped the fairy sitting on the mushroom image twice. I then coloured my images with alcohol markers, I used my retired Blendabilities.

After colouring, to achieve the jumping off the card look, I fussy cut the flower heads and the fairy on my duplicated image.

I rounded the edges of these fussy cut pieces to give a 3D look and then attached the pieces with Snail adhesive under the fairy and small pieces of dimensionals under each flower head and the fairy wings. The fairies legs are just dangling.

Using the sparkle stamp in this set, I covered the inside of the card by stamping the image in Wisteria Wonder ink on my Wisteria Wonder cardstock and then adhered my card liner with the fairy at the bottom with some Snail adhesive. I stamped the same sparkle image a couple of times at the top of my card front, and then placed my sentiment over the top. The sentiment (also from the Fairy Celebration set) is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and then cut using the banner from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims thinlits which I shortened and hung over the stepped edge of my card front.

I recently purchased the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush and it arrived just as I finished my card. So I decided to add some subtle sparkle using my Wink of Stella.

I learnt the hard way, that you don't try out something you've never used before on a completed project, you should always test it somewhere else first until you have worked out how to use it.

I thought there wasn't a lot of glitter on the brush tip, but it was more than I thought and of course I used it first on my stamped sparkles around my sentiment on the front of my card. I ended up with a bit too much glitter and it wasn't the wink of glitter I was hoping for, so I decided to cover up my mishap with a few flowers I cut out using the Bloomin' Hearts thinlits. I think they ended up looking like they belonged there.

After my Wink of Stella mishap, there was the perfect amount of glitter on my brush tip to add just a wink of sparkle to each of my flowers and the fairy wings on the front and inside the card.

I really love the very subtle sparkle that the Wink of Stella glitter brush quickly and cleanly provides. And now I know how to use it, I think I'll be using this quite a bit now. I've taken close up photos of the sparkled images so you can see how pretty and subtle it is.

I have also included my card in this weeks Crazy Crafters Team Project Highlight.

International Blog Hop - Highlighting Stampin' Up! | Number of Years

Welcome and thank you for joining me in a special International blog hop highlighting just some of the many wonderful products Stampin' Up! have to offer.

At the end of August, I participated, along with a number of other crafters from around the world, in an International Project Highlight organised by Kylie Bertucci.

Anyone and everyone was able to vote for their favourite cards and based on the total votes received, the top 10 winners were announced and I came in 6th - YAY :)

Click here to check out the super cute card I entered, using the adorable Bella & Friends stamp set.

All 10 winners were invited to participate in this special International Product Highlight Blog Hop.

There was no specific theme for this hop, which meant we could create what ever we liked.

......and therein lies a problem, how to decide which product to highlight for this hop....

I recently had a special request to make a card to celebrate a 90th Birthday, and I decided that I would share this card with you all as my Stampin' Up! product highlight for this hop.

Here is what I came up with:

I used a Daffodil Delight & Garden Green colour scheme along with the Number of Years stamp set and matching Large Numbers framelits.

My cardbase uses Daffodil Delight cardstock and the images are stamped on Whisper White, with the numbers stamped separately and then cut using the coordinating framelits.

I contemplated adding some more flowers to the front as I thought it needed a little something else, but decided I like the less is more approach and felt more flowers may make the front a little too busy. So to add that little something extra I ended up adding sparkles to the centre of the flowers using some Dazzling Details.

I decorated the inside of the card by using the same flowers as on the front.

This was a relatively quick and easy card to make and I am really pleased with how it turned out.
I hope the recipient likes it too :)

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest - Sarah Berry

Welcome and thank you for joining me in a special Crazy Crafters team blog hop.

We are hopping with a special guest - The amazing Sarah Berry.

The theme of this blog hop was to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) one of Sarah's cards.

Here is the card of Sarah's that I chose to CASE:

I really liked the layout of this card, especially the narrower card front and wanted to give this a try. To checkout Sarah's card in more detail click here.

Here is my version:

I have used the new Jar of Love stamp set for my card and thought it would look great using yellows & greens.

My flowers are stamped using So Saffron & Daffodil delight, with the stems & leaves in Garden Green. I went with Pool Party for the water in my Jar (which is stamped in Tuexdo Black). The flower heads were cut using the coordinating Everyday Jars framelits (you can purchase the stamp set and matching framelits in a bundle and save 10%).

My card base is Daffodil Delight with the card inner a patterned designer series sheet in Garden Green.

The "For You" sentiment is also part of the Jar of Love stamp set and is stamped in Garden Green. My banner is a shortened banner from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims thinlits set.

I decorated the inside of the card with some extra die cut flowers I had left over after creating my card front.

A nice simple card suited for any occasion. Hope you like it.

Guy Greetings | Crazy Crafters Team Project Highlight

I am pretty sure I am not the only one out there who finds masculine cards difficult.

Recently I needed a card for my wonderful father. I racked my brain for ideas for something different than the plane themed cards I have made in the past.

I ended up pulling out my unused Guy Greetings stamp set and decided I would make a card using this set. I only ended up using 2 stamps from the set, but I am happy with what I came up with.

This card is also my entry for this weeks Crazy Crafters Team Project Highlight.

Here is my card:

A super simple, but quite striking card .... if I do say so myself :)

I have used Whisper White, Night of Navy & Old Olive for my colour scheme.

I just repeatedly stamped the shoes image in Night of Navy and then threw in an upside down pair in Old Olive.

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:

Whisper White A4 Cardstock (106549)
Old Olive A4 Cardstock (106576)

Foxy Birthday

One of my nephews is turning 3 soon and I wanted to share the super cute card I created for his birthday.

I have also entered my card in a couple of this weeks creative challenges as I feel it fits in with their challenge themes.

This was a fairly quick and simple card to create, is super cute and would suit any age from little kids to big kids (and even adults).

I created my cute fox using the new Fox Builder punch and some Tangerine Tango, Whisper White & Basic Black cardstock. I adhered the white & black punched shapes to the fox body with Tombow liquid glue. I stamped the legs from the coordindating Foxy Friends stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and drew on the eyes with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. (You can buy the Fox stamp set and matching punch as a bundle and save 10%)

The balloon is from the Celebrate Today stamp set and was stamped in Pool Party & Island Indigo. It was cut out using the coordinating Balloon Framelits.

My card base is Tangerine Tango with a Whisper White panel. I added a piece of Pool Party washi tape across the bottom to match the balloon. I then tied a small piece of blue & white twine around the balloon then attached the balloon using dimensionals. The fox body was attached with a little snail in the middle to allow me to slip the tail under after I had wrapped the twine around his tail (with a little snail to hold it in place). The end of the tail is raised using a dimensional. The fox's head has been attached with some dimensionals to make it stand out.

Here is a list of the supplies and tools used to create this card:

Whisper White A4 Cardstock (106549)
Tangerine Tango A4 Cardstock (116206)
Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad (126982)
Island Indigo Classic Stampin’ Pad (126986)
Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker (100082)
Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708)
Foxy Friends Stamp Set (Photopolymer 141549 / Bundle 142326)
Fox Builder Punch (141470)
Celebrate Today Stamp Set (Photopolymer 137138)
Balloon Framelits (137362)
Magnetic Platform (130658)
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
Snail Permanent Adhesive (104332)
Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Twine
Pool Party Washi Tape

Falling Flowers | Case This! Challenge #001

My previous post was my entry in a new weekly CASE challenge called Case This!

I had a few ideas running around in my head after I created my first card, so I decided to make some more cards for this challenge :)

This is the card inspiration for this weeks Case This! Challenge #001:

Here are the cards for my second entry :)

Coastal Cabana

Melon Mambo

For these 2 cards I decided to use the same stamp set as Jessie's card and similar colours, which I split across the 2 cards.

I stamped the images from the Falling Flowers stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them in with some alcohol markers. I used the retired Blendabilities markers in Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight & Old Olive. I then cut out the images using the coordinating May Flowers framelits.

My sentiments are stamped in the matching colours for each card and use Melon Mambo & Coastal Cabana. The sentiments come from the Limited Edition Thoughtful Branches stamp set (get yours now, while stocks last!) and the retired Painted Petals stamp set.

I decided to keep my cards quite simple as I didn't want them too busy. But I did find that I needed to add a little something, so I decided to add a couple of randomly placed adhesive rhinestones. I didn't have matching coloured rhinestones, so I created my own by using my Melon Mambo & Coastal Cabana blendabilities markers to colour in clear rhinestones.

***Edit: Super excited, my cards received a special mention in the Case This Card! Challenge #001
